Our story

We’re the Kartsonis brothers. We grew up playing games together and dreaming of making one of our own.

After years of dedicated “information gathering” (otherwise known as playing a lot of games), swapping ideas, and drawing inspiration from the worlds we loved, we finally got our act together and built Warboard.

This game carries a lifetime of shared adventures, friendly rivalry, and love for a good strategy game. We made it because we wanted something we’d love playing together. We hope it gives you a few great battles, a few ridiculous stories, and plenty of reasons to say, “One more game.”

    Army colors

Choose your army’s clothing and banners before pressing ready. Each player needs a different color.

    Heroes

Choose one hero to lead your army. Each has its own abilities. Capture the enemy hero to win.

    Territories

Control reveals the whole zone. If an enemy enters, you see the incursion; if the zone stays contested, its extra sight ends when your next turn starts. Nearby units still provide their usual sight. Cloaked rogues still require detection. Your occupied, uncontested home grants two extra actions and each island grants one at the start of your turn.

This list shows known occupants; a concealed rogue may still deny a bonus. Empty or contested areas give no bonus. Invading the enemy home denies their bonus, but earns you none. Changes during your turn affect the next turn’s allowance.

    Recruitment

Spend three available actions to recruit a unit onto an empty square in your home. Choose a unit, then its square. It will be ready next turn; actions cannot be saved between turns.
